ABOUT THE ARTIST
EDWARD FRIEDMAN
Renowned Platinumsmith and Goldsmith, Edward J. Friedman has designed and fabricated jewelry for over 40 years. An acknowledged expert in every phase of jewelry production with an emphasis on platinum manufacturing and casting for small shops, Mr. Friedman produces custom jewelry primarily for the trade nationwide.
Many have study under him at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, where he is was Senior Instructor in his art. He has also taught for Rio Grande at their Hands on in Tucson Series . Mr. Friedman has also developed the first Platinum Casting course ever offered in the United States in conjunction with the Platinum Guild, and The Revere Academy. He has also presented a papers for the Platinum Guild at their Platinum Day West in Los Angeles in 1999. Mr. Friedman’s courses are considered indispensable for anyone desiring to work with platinum fabrication and casting.
While Mr. Friedman's greatest joy and inspiration is working one-on-one with his clients, he is in considerable demand these days as consultant to goldsmiths nationwide. From small shops to large shops, jewelry tool manufacturers (Frei & Borel, Rio Grande, Gesswien) and Platinum alloy developers (Argen, Platinum Consortium), Mr. Friedman advises on how to create products that are useful to the trade while training jewelers effectively in the jewelry arts. His technical wisdom has helped many people to produce books, articles and technical videos for use in today's jewelry industry.
